Happy Tuesday! I hope the sun is shining brightly wherever you are today, or that you’re making your own sunshine if necessary 🙂
Last night kicked off the first half marathon training run for the Buckeye Half Marathon. I’m using the coaching feature of the Nike Running app to create my training plan for this race, with just a few tweaks here and there to accommodate my work travel/teaching schedule. A three mile run was on the agenda last night, so I didn’t even give myself time to rethink it when I got home from work. Storms were supposed to roll in later that evening, so I quickly changed and grabbed my headphones on the way out the door.
3.15 miles @ 8:52 pace. Not too bad considering I haven’t been running consistently!
I was enjoying the “zone out in my own little world” time until a super loud crack of thunder brought me back to reality. I swear nothing could make me run faster than knowing I’m racing against a nasty looking thunderstorm. I made it home just as the rain started coming down.
I have a love/hate relationship with thunderstorms. I love a good storm, but only if I’m in a safe place – with a basement or lower level – and I know that my family is all home or in a safe place as well. Worrywart much? Yes, I know. When I lived with my parents we lived (they still do) on the west side of our town and we could watch the storms roll in, which was always super interesting (until tornado sirens would go off!).
After saying a little “thank you” prayer that I made it home safely, I started to throw a quick dinner together for Tim and I. Spicy cauliflower stir-fry with whole grain pasta – – YUM!!
(super quick and easy…based off of a recipe from The Pioneer Woman)
What’s on your dinner table tonight?
I made a pot of fiesta soup last night, so I have a feeling we will be digging into that with a side of blue chips!
What is the one thing that makes you run faster than anything else?
Thunderstorms and snakes. Okay, two things.
Have a great one 🙂
