So This Is A Little Delayed…

Hi there! Remember me? I know it’s been a while since we last connected. I hope you’ve had a great start to 2017!  I’m REALLY stoked to share an exciting life change on this little blog, and I figured RD Day would be appropriate timing.

I’m in the process of completing my dietetic internship!

Wait, what?!

I can’t believe it, either. After much deliberation, talking with mentors, research, soul searching, and a million and one pro/con lists, I made the decision to reapply for an internship program last year.  It’s never too late to chase after your dreams, right?

Now I’m here!  I’m enrolled in BGSU’s Distance Dietetic Internship, which means I was responsible for setting up my own rotation experiences where I could find preceptors (if you are a preceptor, bless you and thank you!!!!). I am in my outpatient counseling/patient education rotation now, and *fingers crossed* will be finished and eligible to take the RD exam in early fall.

I’m still teaching a couple fitness classes each week, but my time now is focused on learning and experiencing as much as I can in my coursework and rotations to become a competent dietitian.  I am not taking this opportunity for granted, because 1) I want to become the best future RD I can be and 2) I know that many who applied with me last February did not receive a match.

I’ll be sharing some snippets of my experiences over the next several months as I complete my rotations (and rewinding a bit to share some of the posts I have drafted about my journey here).  I am excited to be following this new path on my lifelong quest to help others nourish their mind, body, and soul to live their happiest, healthiest life.

Random – but the Target dollar stop has gotten me the past few weeks.  First I picked up what you see above (felt veggies, little wooden fruits) and this week I grabbed some fruit gel clings and sticky notes.  Can’t stop, won’t stop. 😉

I want to give a big shout out to everyone who knew I was taking this leap and shared their support and encouragement as I was going through the application process, playing the waiting game, and began this program.  I appreciate you more than you know.

Happy RD Day!  And a special happy RD day to all of my fellow dietetic interns – we got this!

Wishing you all a healthy, happy day 🙂
