Florida Getaway 2017

Tim and I were fortunate enough to be able to tag along on a trip with my parents and sisters to the Don Cesar in St. Petersburg, FL last month.  It was our first time (mine and Tim’s, my family had been there before) staying at Florida’s Pink Palace and it was a treat to get to spend time with my family and soak up the sun.  We feel very lucky to have had gorgeous weather each day we were there, so the bulk of our days were spent outside.

Every time we come back from a trip to cold, dreary weather in Ohio I question why I live here.  Then I see memes about why I live where the air hurts my face (no alligators, large creepy crawlies, large snakes, etc.) and remember that I truly love living in “the heart of it all.”  Ohio is awesome for so many reasons.  End rant.

We left the resort once our entire trip to venture out for Mom’s birthday dinner, and otherwise enjoyed what was offered onsite.  The three day weekend flew by in a flash of eating, walking on the beach, and reading and lounging by the pool.  The food at the onsite restaurant was amazing.  If you go for breakfast, I recommend the monkey bread.  You’re welcome.

They also had a fitness center, yoga room, and group fitness classes.  Water aerobics outside in the sun and yoga on the beach?  Sign us up!

I took advantage of the complimentary non-motorized watersports and went out on a SUP each morning.  Two mornings, I found myself paddleboarding WITH DOLPHINS.  Life doesn’t get much better than that, folks.

We took our GoPro out with us one morning and I have no idea what I did but IT DIDN’T RECORD (I swear I hit record and saw a red flashing light!).  That’s about 20 minutes of Tim, Dad, and I kayaking/paddleboarding gone and I’m so bummed!  If you have any tutorials/videos you recommend to help this technologically challenged girl out so this doesn’t happen in the future, please comment because clearly I need helpppp!  The fun we had making the memory is definitely more important though, so all is well.

I can take a solid selfie with a selfie stick, though 😉

It was hard to leave this little slice of paradise.  We are so thankful we were able to join my family and cherish the time we got to spend with them.

Any fun favorite family vacation memories?
